Ann Coulter was recently on the Sean Hannity television program.
The interview started friendly but quickly turned rather contentious. Coulter told Sean, “If we don’t elect Republicans; I don’t care which Republicans, we will not repeal Obamacare.”
So Ann, are you saying if we elect a Senate full of John McCains, Mitch McConnells and Lindsey Grahams, we will repeal Obamacare? Really?
I’ll answer that. Not a chance! That’s the answer.
She went on to say that we shouldn’t be fighting against Republicans. And then said, actually shouted, that the Republicans, if they gain a majority will balance the budget and do all these conservative things.
Where’s the proof of that? There is none. As a matter of fact, there is the exact opposite, solid proof that they won’t.
The Republicans gained total control of the federal government and maintained it from 2002 through 2006. During that time they had the presidency, the Senate and the House. What did they do in that time?
They did cut taxes, although the first round of cuts was in 2001. Other than that, what did the great Republican majority do? Did they fix education? Nope. They made it worse (No Child Left Behind). Did they fix our energy problems? Did they Drill-Baby-Drill? Nope. Did they seal the border? Nope. Did they reduce regulations, reign in the EPA? Nope. Did they fix the tax code? Nope. Beat back the nonsense that is “Global Warming”? Nope.
They didn’t do jack except cross the aisle, spend a lot more money and cow-tow to the minority party and the mainstream media.
So how is it that Coulter can claim this? I’m asking. I don’t know. And neither does she. She went on Hannity and did what democrats do when they can’t answer a question. She filibustered for most of the 5 1/2 min. interview, ending with a snide remark advising us to not donate to the Senate Conservatives Fund.
In 2012, as Daniel Horowitz wrote, Ann declared herself to be a one issue voter. That issue was immigration.
Now fast-forward to 2014 and she only spouts, “Repeal Obamacare, Repeal Obamacare, Repeal Obamacare.”
What happened to immigration? I’ll tell you what happened. The “establishment” Republicans have aligned themselves with the Democrats in favor of amnesty, so voilà, that issue appears to be off the table for Ann. If she speaks up against “immigration reform” it will be against the wishes of the “establishment” Republicans.
Now to Rand Paul and his support of Mitch McConnell over the clear conservative choice Matt Bevin. How could Paul say that the Tea Party is the grassroots of the party, the energy of the party and support a man, McConnell, who wants to crush the Tea Party everywhere?
McConnell says he thinks they, the Tea Party, will not have a single nominee anywhere. That doesn’t sound very inclusive to me.
Rand said that what separates the establishment from the Tea Party are simply tactics. Huh? Is he kidding? We’ve seen the tactics of the establishment – to attempt to crush conservatives and bow down to the Democrats.
Paul said in an interview with Buck Sexton on the Glenn Beck show, that Republican primaries should be conducted “on a civilized plane” and that regardless who wins, to rally around whichever candidate is victorious coming out of the primary.
Thus far, I would say that McConnell has been less than civilized, nor do I think he would “rally” around Matt Bevin if Bevin defeats him.
Rand was never asked why he supported McConnell and did not offer an explanation. That, to me, is still a mystery and troubling.
Between his support of the “Comprehensive Immigration Bill” and his support of McConnell, I am beginning to cool on Rand Paul. I haven’t jumped ship, but I’m on the railing.
And Coulter is another story. Between her love of Chris Christie for far too long and now this, I don’t think I can any longer trust her judgment.
I don’t know that she resides in Washington DC, but she’s beginning to sound like she does and has for some time.
