Well, this past weekend, the establishment wing of the Republican Party finally laid its cards on the table. They’ve finally thrown off the veil of faux conservatism to show the entire world just who they really are. The question is – are we now smart enough to see them for who they are?
With the passage of the CROmnibus in the House, during the lame-duck session, they’ve shown that they don’t care a whit about their conservative base, or the American people in general.
Few in the House objected (Louis Gohmert, Michelle Bachmann, etc.) and once again it was up to Ted Cruz (and Mike Lee) in the Senate to tell the truth.
Well, here’s another truth regarding CROmnibus. Some of you may already be aware of it.
Remember when Mitch McConnell said during the last primary season that he wanted to crush the Tea Party – that they (we) wouldn’t win a single primary – that they (the ruling class) will be the Tea Party everywhere?
At the time most thought it was just bluster or maybe he had the confidence of one who has fixed the race, so to speak.
Now, recall what Faux-A-Hontas, Elizabeth Warren has been publicly bellyaching about. That’s right – the relaxing of some provisions in Dodd-Frank, specifically regarding campaign finance.
For the longest time, we on the right have lamented the fact that unions can spend almost unlimited funds on campaigns, whereas individuals and corporations cannot.
Well, tucked into CROmnibus is a provision, installed by Republicans, relaxing the rule so that corporate America can also contribute boatloads of cash to campaigns. I think Rush Limbaugh may have spoken about this last week.
Now some would say, that’s a good thing, and it is. Anyone should be free to give as much money as they wish to any candidate or party with no limit. There must just be full public disclosure. That’s real freedom, but it’s not how McConnell and the ruling class see it.
This is McConnell’s, Boehner’s and the other Republican thugs plan to wipe out the conservatives and the Tea Party. They’re going to spend us into oblivion. Just watch and see in the next election cycle. Gone will be the tough talk – the playing to the conservative base.
In their minds, once they have the Chamber of Commerce, big corporate money backing them, they’ll feel they no longer need to “play nice” with us flyover yokels.
Oh, I think they will still attempt to lie and bully conservative House and Senate members to go along, like Boehner did to the hapless Marlin Stutzman to obtain various votes they need, but I doubt we’ll hear about it, as we did when Stutzman publicly proclaimed that he was lied to.
By loosening this corporate rule the establishment has declared war on conservatives and the Tea Party. They have uncorked the genie and there’s no getting him back in the bottle.
From now on, we are at war with the establishment and they think they can win without us.
We need to support Cruz, Lee and the rest with e-mails and phone calls, letting them know they’re not alone – that we’re out here and have their backs.
If we don’t rally around conservatives now, we’ll be swept away by the Establishment tsunami, forced into a third-party. As it looks now, that may not be such a bad thing.
